Committees

Committees are the working foundation of KITA WARE's governance and organizational development. Each committee supports the Board of Trustees by advancing strategic priorities, strengthening organizational capacity, and promoting ethical leadership in service to Hawaiʻi's communities.

Finance Committee

Oversees financial stewardship, budgeting, fiscal accountability, and long-term financial sustainability while supporting responsible use of organizational resources.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor the annual operating and program budgets.

  • Review financial statements and recommend actions to the Board of Trustees.

  • Promote sound financial stewardship, accountability, and internal controls.

  • Assist in identifying sustainable funding and revenue opportunities.

  • Monitor organizational compliance with financial policies and applicable regulations.

  • Support grant budget development and financial reporting.

  • Recommend long-term financial planning strategies and reserve policies.

Marketing & Communications Committee

Promotes public awareness of KITA WARE through strategic communications, publications, branding, media engagement, and digital outreach.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Promote KITA WARE's mission, programs, and organizational identity.

  • Maintain consistent branding and public communications.

  • Oversee website, social media, newsletters, and digital engagement.

  • Develop public education and outreach campaigns.

  • Support fundraising communications and donor recognition.

  • Coordinate media relations and public announcements.

  • Ensure publications reflect organizational values and professionalism.

Leadership & Governance Committee

Strengthens organizational governance by supporting Board development, policy review, strategic planning, and leadership succession.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support effective governance through policy development and periodic review.

  • Recruit, orient, and mentor trustees and committee leaders.

  • Assist with Board succession planning and leadership development.

  • Review bylaws, governance policies, and committee charters.

  • Coordinate Board self-assessments and governance evaluations.

  • Promote ethical leadership and accountability.

  • Support implementation of the organization's strategic plan.

Scholarship Committee

Advances educational opportunities through scholarships, professional development, research initiatives, and lifelong learning.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop scholarship policies and eligibility criteria.

  • Review scholarship applications and recommend recipients.

  • Promote educational advancement and lifelong learning.

  • Support research, leadership development, and professional education initiatives.

  • Assist in developing scholarship fundraising opportunities.

  • Evaluate scholarship program outcomes and impact.

  • Encourage educational partnerships with community organizations and academic institutions.

Membership Committee

Recruits, welcomes, and supports members while fostering engagement, collaboration, and professional growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Recruit and welcome new members.

  • Develop strategies to strengthen member engagement and retention.

  • Coordinate membership orientation and onboarding.

  • Promote opportunities for volunteer leadership and committee participation.

  • Maintain membership records and communication.

  • Recommend membership benefits and engagement activities.

  • Evaluate membership growth and participation trends.

Fellowship & Events Committee

Coordinates organizational meetings, conferences, educational events, and fellowship activities that strengthen community relationships.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan conferences, educational programs, and community events.

  • Coordinate networking and fellowship opportunities.

  • Support organizational ceremonies and special events.

  • Assist with event logistics, registration, and volunteer coordination.

  • Promote inclusive participation across diverse communities.

  • Evaluate event outcomes and participant feedback.

  • Collaborate with other committees on joint programs.

Fundraising & Development Committee

Develops sustainable fundraising strategies, cultivates donor relationships, and supports organizational resource development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies.

  • Identify grant, sponsorship, and donor opportunities.

  • Cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, and community supporters.

  • Coordinate annual giving campaigns and fundraising events.

  • Support development of fundraising publications and promotional materials.

Service Learning & Outreach Committee

Builds collaborative partnerships through community engagement, volunteer service, educational outreach, and experiential learning opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop community engagement and outreach initiatives.

  • Build collaborative relationships with community organizations and partners.

  • Coordinate volunteer service and experiential learning opportunities.

  • Promote civic engagement and organizational service projects.

  • Support workforce development and educational outreach.

  • Evaluate community needs and recommend responsive initiatives.

  • Strengthen partnerships that advance KITA WARE's mission throughout Hawaiʻi.
